Week 8

The end of the course is coming closer and to some extent I feel sad that soon it will be over. But on the other hand, I am happy to have met so many interesting and inspiring teachers from all over the world. This week, just like all previous week, was full of exciting discoveries. I explored the whole new world of online tools for creating tests, quizes, exercises, word searches, webposters etc. I created my own padlet for our English class and my kids already started using it http://ru.padlet.com/wall/shevchenkogymnasia

Besides, this week I finally finished creating WebQuest with podcasts for my class project and published it on our class padlet. My students have already started doing it and I hope to see the results in a week. I found such sites as http://www.toolsforeducators.com/ and http://www.easytestmaker.com/ especially interesting as they provide the whole range of activities which you can create and use in your classroom both online and offline.

I read the project draft by my partner Carlos and I liked the idea of using Google map in the class. I guess I will also try to do something similar when we learn about travelling around the world or cultures of other countries. So far, that's it for this week.

  1. Dear Iryna,

Glad that you manage to keep working and so successfully when your country is calling up reservists, preparing for war (BBC News) Do you live near Crimea? My heart and mind are with you, Iryna! Keep me posted, will you?
I am also very pelased for increasing my ist of sites and links as well as fantastic ideas from all of you. Google maps are fantastic indeed also for school trips, for tourism...
    All the best,
    Alex

  2. Dear Alex,
THank you so much for all your support. THe times for Ukraine are really hard. I live far from Crimea but I have a 20-year-old son, so of course I am worried that he can be mobilized. Nobody wants war here!!!

    1. Oh Lord, I would be very worried if I were in your shoes. My eldest is now about to celebrate 18, so I can imagine - just imagine!!!
Let's pray this will come to a halt and soon, dear Iryna.
      With all my heart,
      Alex

  3. Hi Iryna,

I'd like to thank you for your comments on my draft plan report. In fact, at the beginning it wasn't going to be a plan but a full project, as the 3rd Module of the Diplomatic Academy where I teach was to start in late February. But then the Academic Board decided to give the 3rd Module students the chance to work full time helping with the preparation of the OAS (Organization of the American States) presidential summit taking place in my country in early June. Therefore, I ended up without a class to teach.

Back to your blog comments, I see that you had a busy week, as probably all of us did. How is your Padlet Wall working? I also made one, but so far, I haven't been able to implemented in class because of technical problems that seem to do either with Google Chrome or to the slow Internet connection we have in my classroom. It would be interesting to know how you managed with yours.
